The development provides a total of 170 bedrooms arranged in flats comprising single bed studios and two & three bedroom cluster flats.
The site is on the former Gateway Theatre and surrounded by properties on all 4 sides of the site, in the heart of a conservation area of Edinburgh.
The rooms are split over 3 blocks; Block A (7 floors) is a steel frame, built against the gables of the existing tenement buildings, founded on ground beams/pile caps and supported by steel encased piles. Blocks B & C (up to 4 floors) are loadbearing lightweight steel framed system – ‘Met Frame’, built directly off the concrete ground beams and pile caps supported by CFA piled foundations.
Additionally, the project has been awarded ‘Best Residential Development’ at the 2014 RICS Scotland Awards.
