As our construction sites are located at the centre of communities we take our corporate social responsibilities very seriously. We aim to play a real part in local life and build strong links with community groups. Just a few of our activities include visiting schools to raise awareness of health and safety and issuing quarterly newsletters to ensure the local neighbourhood are kept up to date with progress of the developments in their area.
We also recognise the importance of encouraging young people to consider a career within the construction industry. We visit local schools and colleges to discuss careers available and invite students to tour our developments to gain an insight into our work.
We support young people taking their first steps in their careers by offering structured work experience programmes and scholarship schemes. Additionally, our graduate training programme is designed to develop and support former students to lead and grow the Watkin Jones Group in future years.
We are also able to offer financial support to projects which benefit the community. The Watkin Jones Community Fund awards grants of up to £1,000 to help ideas become reality. The Fund aims to support a wide range of projects with a particular emphasis on enhancing the physical environment and improving quality of life for local people.
Applications are welcomed from community based groups and not for profit organisations. The application process is straightforward and is designed to encourage groups from all parts of the community to present their projects for consideration.
